This Kanab Utah Slot Canyons tour requires considerably more hiking than our basic slot canyon tour at about 7 miles. The terrain is a mixed blessing with deep sand, but minimal elevation change. Please carefully consider your age and physical abilities especially during the hottest months of the year: June, July, August. This tour is especially difficult in the heat.
No special permit is required for this tour.

These FAQs are specific to this tour. If you would like to view our general FAQs CLICK HERE.

1. Which slot canyons does this tour visit?
This trip visits three slot canyons: Peekaboo, Merwin and Baybill. Peekaboo is a gorgeous, red rock slot canyon that is never crowded. The other two are seldom visited and little known.

2. Is there more hiking or driving on this trip?
None of these slot canyons are too far from Kanab so you will spend a considerable portion of the day out of the SUV and out in nature. It takes about 7 miles of hiking to get to all of these slot canyons. The ground is level, but there is a lot of deep sand to traverse. From June through August, we only offer a 7 a.m. start time on this trip so you will not be hiking in the heat of the day.

3. What will I see on the Slot Canyon Bonanza tour?
This trip is for slot canyon lovers and it visits three remote slot canyons. It also includes a drive up a beautiful canyon with several river crossings. It feels like a smaller version of Zion Canyon that you have practically all to yourself. And it’s likely you won’t see anyone else in the two lesser known slot canyons.

4. Are there bathrooms on this tour?
There aren’t any bathroom facilities on this tour. At any time, you may duck behind a tree or bush for privacy. Bury all solid waste. Guides carry toilet paper, hand wipes and plastic bags in each truck. Do not leave any trash on the ground. Paper must be bagged up and can be discreetly discarded into the trash bag at the truck.

5. Is Peekaboo Canyon good for photography? May I bring my tripod?
Photographers relish the challenge of the ever changing light in Peekaboo and even amatures with iPhones come away with stunning images. We encourage photography on our trips and our tour allows about 2 hours in the slot canyon if needed. Tripods, GoPros and gimbals are welcome. Photographers are encouraged to linger behind the group to set up their perfect shots. It’s a slot canyon, so you really can’t get lost.

6. Are drones allowed on this tour?
Drones are allowed on this trip, but in general, this tour doesn’t visit sites that are particularly well suited to drones. When operating a drone on tours, please be mindful of other guests on the tour and other hikers who may be in the area. Others seek remote locations for the solitude. Please do not fly drones close to other people and limit the amount of time the drone is in the air. Always follow instructions from your guide.

Guest Experiences on the Slot Canyon Photography Bonanza Tour

My husband, my sister and her family all went on a 2 hour tour and both appreciated and enjoyed the skilled driving of the tour guide (we never could have managed that on our own!) She was passionate about her job, and did well to educate our group, especially speaking in a manner understandable to my very young nieces and nephews (ages 6-15). We got to see the Mystic Slot canyon, get up close to a fin (rock formation), and see pictographs from ancient native tribes.

If I could give them a 6, I would. First off we scheduled late, but they accommodated our needs and set us up with a tour of the slot canyons for the next day. Steve our guide was knowledgeable about the area allowed sufficient time to take pictures without making us feeling like we were being shuttled to the next stop. I have been on some tours with other companies were you just feel rushed the whole tour, but not with Dreamland. If you are able, take a tour with Dreamland, you will not regret it.

We all thoroughly enjoyed our tour of the slot canyons. It was extremely informative and also great fun. We all enjoyed being jostled around in the 4WD going to and from the canyons. The views from the lookout were spectacular.

Very nice excursion at Slot Canyon almost private for our family of 4. The place is so nice and very easy to access event with kids. The Guide Steve is very nice and helpful. I will definitively recommend the tour to my friends, family and clients.

Just completed a truly wonderful visit to White Pocket on a photo safari with Dreamland and AZ Highways Photo Tours. Dreamland’s outfitters were outstanding. Food was almost too good and plentiful. Their service and attention to detail is outstanding. Not sure when my next trip is with them but I’m already looking forward to it!

In addition to the Peekaboo Slot Canyon, we visit two more lesser known, more remote Kanab Utah Slot Canyons. And guess what? There’s hardly a soul in them. All three slots are unique in color and form and lighting is optimal throughout the middle of the day. Enjoy the Zion-like scenery. If you are lucky you might see a desert big horn sheep or a golden eagle. Escape the crowds found on Antelope Canyon Tours in Page, AZ. Come West! Kanab, Utah is the ultimate alternative for slot canyon photography!
