The Grand-Staircase Escalante National Monument has many wonders. On the Castle Rock Hiking Tour we visit the products of dramatic differential erosion along the Cockcomb over millenia. To fully appreciate the immense scale of geologic upheaval in this area one must go up, and no truck can get you here. Come hiking with us over the ridge of tumbled layers. Peer back and get great shots of the Cockscomb. Hiking Difficulty 1-10: 8

This tour is for experienced hikers only. The distances are relatively short but the elevation change is great and the terrain unforgiving. There is one particular stretch that is very steep. Participants on the Castle Rock Hiking tour must have good physical fitness, balance, and agility, and must not be afraid of heights.
